Want to Know How Many Calories Are in That Number 5?

Get dieting help on your cell phone for free from Diet.com.

Text the "restaurant name, Item on menu" to Diet1 (34381), for example " Arby's Chicken Club Salad". You will get a reply listing the items calorie, fat, protein and carb counts.

Information is available for food in over 1,700 restaurants . (your cell phone provider may charge you for each text, Yes it is "free" but free from diets.com meaning they do not charge you for sending you the information. I would only recommend doing this if you have unlimited text messaging).

From Diets.com

" *Note: Try to be as accurate and specific as possible - the less words you include from the menu item, the less likely you are to recieve information for the item you want to look up.

In few cases, you can also use the column to the right as a "what not to do" guide. This is a good place to practice... remember: Restaurant name AND Menu item (don't include the "AND") for faster, accurate results!

IMPORTANT! You MUST remove/omit your "signature" from the body of any messages sent to the service."

Over 50? Join AARP

If you are over the age of 50 and have not joined AARP you are crazy. At $12.50 a year (that price goes down when you pay for more then one year at a time; example: pre pay 5 years of membership) it can pay for itself. I will be the first to admit that AARP needs to add some more discount offers for its members, but what they offer now it still worth it ( if enough members email them about it might add some more, hint, hint).

You also get a subscription to AARP's Newsletter and Magazine; they are both good reads and full of useful information.

Get Involved:--- DividedWeFail.org--

I recently learned that you do not have to be 50 to join; people under 50 can become "associate members (they do not get a membership card)". These type of members do not get to use all the benefits that full members do (contact AARP's customer service for details on associate memberships).

You can get around this. If a person 50 years old (and up) gets a membership they usually get a second membership free and that typically goes to their spouse. However, in my dad's case, his is a widow, so he asked if I could get the second membership. He told them how old I was (21 at the time) and the CR said it was okay. I got a membership card and everything. I email AARP's customer service and asked if I (being the age I was) get the same AARP benefits as my dad, and I do since I got my membership through him.

I think it is funny, I am probably the only person to be an AARP member at age 21, and if you think about it, I will of probably end up breaking some kind of membership record, lol. At 50 I will have been a member for 29 years.

Get Free Stuff By Joining BzzAgent.com

A great way to get free stuff is by becoming a Bzz Agent . Of course, you do have to spread the Bzz about the products they send you.
I have gotten a lot of cool things being a Bzz Agent, and it is only fair that I spread the word. They do not require you to spread positive Bzz either. They want honesty, because the Bzz Agents reports and feedback goes to the maker so they can change things that people do not like (or add more of what they do, it depends on the product).
What kind of stuff will you get? You might get a UV Tooth Brushsanitizer or a free pass to a website.
To join a campaign you must be invited, invitationsare based on Bzz Agents profiles. Stuff like where you live, what sex you are (male/female), how much you participated in other campaigns (if applicable), etc.
Just remember to submit at least three Bzz Reports per campaign so you will get invited to more.
On top of getting products to Bzz about, BzzAgent.com has joined with Mypoints.com to give their Bzz Agents better rewards.

Save at Wal-Mart’s Clearence Section

I recently scored some good deals at Walmart.com’s clearance section. I was surprised to see that there was a lot of “in-season” products (example: shorts, dresses, short-sleeved shirts, etc..).
You can get items up to 50% off retail price. And, with Wal-Mart’s site-to-store shipping option (where they ship it to your local Wal-Mart and you pick it up)
(read reviews of Wal-Mart Site-to-Store at SuckyStuff.net) you may be able to get free shipping (or 97¢ shipping).
The only downside to shopping in clearance sections is if you wait to long to check out, one or more of the items may become out-of-stock.

You May be able to get a “Stimulus Payment” check!

Even if you are one of the 20 million that do not normally, file taxes you may be eligible for a stimulus payment that was sent out automatically to those that filed taxes for 2007, that is if you receive at least 3,000 from Social Securitybenefits, veteransbenefits, certain other benefits and/or earned income in 2007. Getting your 300 or more check is easy, just fill out a simplified version of 1040A( you can get this from the IRS website or by calling your local IRS office, they can also answer any questions you have or send you a IRS publication that will “explain” what to do). AARP has a good tool to help you complete the form.

If you know someone that may be able to get a Stimulus payment, (other then you) encourage them to get theirs. Even help them fill out the forms. You have until Oct. 15 2008 to send the form in for it to go through. Who couldn’t use a few extra hundred dollars.
